Project Overview
For this assignment, I was tasked with creating conceptual imagery for a current issue-based poster and action guide that fit into an overarching awareness campaign.
The current issue I chose to raise awareness for was suicide rates in the United States. I decided on this topic after learning that the total number of suicides in the United States had reached an all time high the year prior (2022). This statistic served as the basis of the "Ask How" campaign. The goal of Ask How was not only to raise awareness of that main statistic, but to also inform people who do not think about suicide on risk factor and warning signs that they can detect in others early enough to take action.

Organization Logo Sketches
For the organization logo, I wanted something simple so that it would not draw too much attention away from the main messaging.
Final Organization System
I ended up using a clean, black and white symbol with a rough sans-serif typeface.
Poster Sketches
I wanted the poster's focal point to be type with a supporting image. The most difficult part was choosing what to depict that made the viewer think, without being too shocking.
Early Poster Versions
Because the organization logo and poster were developed simultaneously, you can see some early considerations for color and typeface, but very early on I decided on using a scratched out wrist as my main image. The pose, position, and image treatment were aspects of the image that took time to develop.

Final Action Guide
The action guide makes use of various infographics and statistics to inform the viewer. It is very common for someone to see a large number and have no frame of reference, making that number meaningless. The goal of the action guide is to give people that frame of reference, as well as telling them how they can make a difference for the people in their lives that need support.
