SDSU's Open Studios event is where students, incoming freshmen, and members of the wider San Diego community can see what the Art and Design department is all about. The graduate students open their studios for people so they gain a better understanding of their practice as well as what is possible at SDSU.
I was tasked with designing the poster, as well as several other deliverables, for this event.
Final Poster (Flat)
For the final poster, I wanted to find a balance between legibility of the text and impact for the image.
The image is a representation of the confusing, stair filled layout of the art buildings. The tagline of "Finding Your Way" works on three levels: 1) The graduate students finding their way outside of an academic setting and into professional ones 2) Prospective students going to university for art, finding their way of creating 3) People who have never been to the art buildings attempting to find their way to and around it.

Early Layout Options
During the early phases of this project, I struggled to convey the impact of my imagery while maintaining the readability of the text, as well as fitting all the required information.

Wayfinding
One of the deliverables for this project was a wayfinding element to make finding the Art North and South Buildings easier.
